At lower Town Hall levels (4-6) it is often critical to draw out the clan castle troops and eliminate them prior to the full assault on the enemy base.  Accomplishing this quickly and correctly is the single largest determining factor in TH4 and TH5 success in Clan Wars.

The method used to eliminate clan castle troops varies depending on the base layout.  In order to formulate a plan, scout the enemy base you plan to attack and click on their clan castle to view the targeting range for that building.

In the example shown, you see that the army camp in the circle is an ideal starting point.  It is located inside the targeting range of the clan castle and is not near defensive buildings.  Against this base, I would place a barbarian next to Army camp at the edge of the base.

This will draw the clan castle troops away from the enemy defenses.  Once they eliminate the barbarian, the clan castle troops will be in a tight grouping.  At this point, you have a few options.  Many people drop a lightning spell, if applicable, on the clan castle troops to eliminate them quickly.  Alternatively, you can drop archers and/or barbarians in a circle around the clan castle troops to take them out.

If the enemy clan castle has a Dragon or extremely high level wizards, a giant can be dropped first to take the fire while archers or wizards are dropped to eliminate the threat.

Once you have eliminated the clan castle troops progress to the main assault on the enemy base.

In this example, the targeting range of the clan castle is within range of defensive buildings.  Therefore, to effectively deal with these clan castle troops, a simple strategy is to start by placing a barbarian at the top of the base above the laboratory.  As soon as you drop the barbarian, place another barbarian next to the army camp in the circle.  The cannons will quickly eliminate the barbarian but the clan castle troops will rush the first barbarian next to the laboratory.

Once the clan castle troops reach the barbarian, follow the directions above to circle them with archers and eliminate the troops.
